January Activities
Jan 6, 2025: This meeting we will be discussing Color and Quilting. Everyone should bring a quilt that they really love the colors. They should also bring three fabrics: primary, secondary, and supporting. Be prepared to talk about why you like these colors together. We will also be discussing fabric care. The project for the next meeting will be reviewed.
January 20, 2025: This meeting we will be doing a quilted fabric heart on a card, with a focus on color. The card and envelope will be provided. Please bring a minimum of three different color fabrics, backing fabric, and batting. Plan on at least a 10" x 10" square and include a primary, secondary, and supporting fabric (Keep Valentine's Day in mind.) You will also need basic sewing supplies, sewing machine, pinking shears, and spray adhesive.
At the first day and evening meetings, we will demonstrate or discuss the program projects. The second day and evening meetings will provide time for you to work on these projects or any of your own ideas that you are willing to share.
ONGOING PROJECT - YARD SQUARE QUILT AUCTION
If you would like to participate: Auction is scheduled for August 30, 2025.
The quilt should be within one inch of 36" x 36" square.
Must include a 4" hanging sleeve.
If a panel is used, it must include some piecework.
Label your quilt with the Quilt Name, your name, year, and the quilter's name if quilted by someone else.
Quilts should be handed in by the first meetings in June.
This is our 21st year of hosting the auction. Please consider donating a quilt this year.
YARD SQUARE QUILT CHARITY AUCTION
The YSQ Charity Auction will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Berkeley Springs State Park.
If you would like to create a quilt for this year's auction, the rules are simple.
1. Must be within one inch of a 36" square.
2. Must have a 4" hanging sleeve.
3. If a panel is used, some piecework needs to be included.
4. Must have a label. Label should include the quilt name, your name, year, and quilter's
name, if quilter is someone other than yourself.
